today...

:: I constantly have doubts about myself and my capabilities (or lack of).

:: today school started

:: I had clinical this morning at 6:45 am

:: my husband got up at 5 am and made me a cheese / mushroom / spinach / 2-egg omelet.

:: {swoon}

:: sorry ladies... he's taken :o)

:: I am on a progressive care unit this quarter... the in between of intensive care and a regular hospital stay

:: I still suck at taking a manual blood pressure

:: and a manual glucose check

 :: I had to stick a poor 88 year-old man 3, yes 3, times before I gave up and went and got someone who could get him to bleed.

:: I later completed a manual blood glucose on an incoherent alcoholic who slept through the whole process

:: I saw my first pressure ulcer today.

:: I also saw my first tracheostomy

:: sad... very sad

:: both were on an inmate

:: 23 years old

:: who is basically in a vegetative state

:: it made me emotional to see a patient like that.

:: the prison guard "standing guard" in the room was a complete bitch. (sorry, Mom)

:: I wanted to slap her and tell her that all patients get treated with respect and compassion.

:: I haven't cried yet today.

:: though I was close during my second failed attempt at a blood pressure

:: and my third failed attempt at a blood glucose check

:: I made enchiladas for dinner

:: and Jesse opened a bottle of red

:: yum.
