:: I am on a progressive care unit this quarter... the in between of intensive care and a regular hospital stay
:: I still suck at taking a manual blood pressure
:: and a manual glucose check
:: I had to stick a poor 88 year-old man 3, yes 3, times before I gave up and went and got someone who could get him to bleed.
:: I later completed a manual blood glucose on an incoherent alcoholic who slept through the whole process
:: I saw my first pressure ulcer today.
:: I also saw my first tracheostomy
:: sad... very sad
:: both were on an inmate
:: 23 years old
:: who is basically in a vegetative state
:: it made me emotional to see a patient like that.
:: the prison guard "standing guard" in the room was a complete bitch. (sorry, Mom)
:: I wanted to slap her and tell her that all patients get treated with respect and compassion.
:: I haven't cried yet today.
:: though I was close during my second failed attempt at a blood pressure
:: and my third failed attempt at a blood glucose check
:: I made enchiladas for dinner
:: and Jesse opened a bottle of red
:: yum.
